Despite a little bit of wet weather, the National Park Service contractor continued to cut trees around the West End Guide Station. We are looking “up” Stone Avenue. The trees being removed around the West End Guide Station are in the left background. The equestrian statue to Major General John F. Reynolds is in the right background. The National Park Service contractor continued removing the trees to the south of the West End Guide Station yesterday (March 3, 2010). The trees, which were not here at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg, cover an approximately half acre. It rained a little on Wednesday, but the contractor continued to make progress.
