Sickles Witness Fence Update: Repainting Complete


The black iron Sickles Witness Fence, and the gate shown here, divides the Soldiers National Cemetery from the civilian Evergreen Cemetery. This view was taken facing south at approximately 8:10 AM on Thursday, June 24, 2010.

Repainting of the Sickles Witness Fence between Soldiers National Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery has been completed.



In our last posting on the fence we showed you the section being repainted that stretches from its start on Baltimore Street to the Soldiers National Monument from the National Cemetery side. Here we are in the Evergreen Cemetery. This view was taken facing south at approximately 8:10 AM on Thursday, June 24, 2010.

Near the “turn” in the fence, where it changes from running southwest to due south, is the area in which the fence sustained damage in August of 2008. This view was taken facing south at approximately 8:10 AM on Thursday, June 24, 2010.
