Segways

Licensed Battlefield Guide Dave Eisenhart prepares to give a tour on a segway Sunday morning. Two different companies operate segway operations in Gettysburg, although only one uses Licensed Battlefield Guides. This view was taken from the northeast facing southwest at approximately 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 29, 2008.

Segways are being used at Gettysburg National Military Park to give tours. A couple of Licensed Battlefield Guides have been recruited to give tours on the vehicles. More than a few Licensed Battlefield Guides don’t want the liability if something goes wrong. The Gettysburg Daily took photographs of one of the tours getting ready to depart from the Segway site along the Taneytown Road at the Reliance Mine Saloon.

These segways can be rented along the Taneytown Road across the street from the National Cemetery, at the Reliance Mines Saloon. This view was taken from the north facing south at approximately 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 29, 2008.

Dave prepares to give his group final instructions before heading out on the two hour tour. Top speed on the segways is 12 and a half miles per hour. The tours are two and a half hours. This view was taken from the southeast facing northwest at approximately 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 29, 2008.

Last week the Gettysburg Daily caught these segways along Seminary Ridge led by Licensed Battlefield Guide Gary Kross. The Wentz Library at the Seminary is in the background. This view was taken from the northeast facing southwest at approximately 12:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2008.
