Please do not visit Powers Hill until these “Area Closed” signs are removed and the project is complete. Until then, the best you can do is take telephoto pictures of monuments like the 77th New York from the base of the hill like we did. It’s been almost two years since we started covering this project, so it is exciting to see the results of this work to restore Powers Hill to its 1863 appearance. It is becoming much easier to illustrate to visitors why the United States would have placed artillery on the eastern portion of the hill.
