Houck’s Ridge Panorama: October 2010

The photographer is standing on Houck’s Ridge just down the ridge from the monument to the 99th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment (shown in the right portion of this shot), facing Little Round Top and Plum Run Valley. This view was taken at approximately 4:20 PM on Friday, October 1. For a medium-sized version of the panorama click here. For the larger JPEG version, click here. It was a cool and beautiful first day of October in Gettysburg. Lots of visitors were out on the field to take advantage of the weather, and as always, to take in the view from Little Round Top (where you can again see a substantial row of visitors from the vantage point of today’s panorama).

The photographer is standing behind (east of) the monument to the 99th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, located on Houck’s Ridge, above (north of) Devil’s Den.

The photograph starts on the left (north) showing Houck’s Ridge, and pans to the right (southwest) showing the witness tree remaining on top of Devil’s Den and the monument to the 99th Pennsylvania.
