Crawford Avenue in Gettysburg National Military Park is closed again today. So let’s say you’re a family of four from, oh I don’t know, how about Kansas? It’s your first time to Gettysburg, you came a long way, and you want the best tour possible before school begins next week. You’re driving east on the Wheatfield Road, and you want to make a right turn to see Little Round Top and Devil’s Den. Well, you can’t go this way, and the detour sign, instead of taking you east and over the east side of Little Round Top instructs you to turn around somewhere here and head back west. Really? If the family of four from Kansas drives back to the west and attempts to turn left or south on Ayres Avenue, they’ll find it is not only, closed, the detour sign takes them back to the east, back towards Crawford Avenue.
