Civil War Soldier Program



Gettysburg National Military Park seasonal intern Joe Phillips presented a program on the Civil War soldier Tuesday afternoon. The young visitor is asking him why the soldiers put cloth on the outside of their canteens. Joe gives the answer in the video clip following this picture. Another of the many summer programs offered at Gettysburg National Military Park is one on the common soldier. Tuesday afternoon, the Gettysburg Daily stopped by Ranger Station #1 to hear seasonal intern Joe Phillips present a program on the Civil War soldiers. Even at these general programs one may pick up things they didn’t know before. For instance, the answer to a question posed by a young visitor. The question is given at the first photograph, and the answer is presented in the first video.

At the end of the program, visitors were allowed to come up and look over the equipment, and Joe is signing a paper to have one of the young visitors receive credit for the Junior Ranger program.
