On a rainy Friday, the Star and Banner visited Joseph Sherfy’s Peach Orchard to check on its rehabilitation. It is scheduled to be replanted this spring, and the work is beginning. Small orange flags are now located where the peach trees will be replanted, and the sign telling about the peach orchard rehabilitation has been knocked over, hopefully awaiting removal. The two year project began after the last trees in this location had become diseased, and had to be removed. The soil then had to be treated. The 145th anniversary of the battle won’t see fully grown trees, but hopefully trees that will be around for a while.

A new sign stating that ranger programs will meet here is located at the top of the Wheatfield Road parking area, where busses will pull to block of the view anyone actually waiting by this sign.
