Cyclorama Parking Lot Resurfacing

The Cyclorama Center parking lot is currently being resurfaced. The project is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.

In the meantime, visitors are parking at the old lot for the previous location of the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitors Center. This is also now the only accessway from the Taneytown Road to Steinwehr Avenue. This view was taken facing northwest at approximately 5:20 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2011.

Since the closing of the Cyclorama and the removal of the old Visitors Center, the lots in this area have served as parking for visitors to the National Cemetery. This view was taken facing southeast at approximately 5:20 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2011.

The National Park Service is still in the process of complying with a federal judge’s order from last year, requiring that the NPS complete a federal Environmental Assessment and come up with possible alternatives to demolition of the Cyclorama Building.
